Privacy Policy
Effective date: 18 October 2026
1. Who we are
WeldBud is operated by X3M TIG Welding Ltd., 13025 6 St SW, Calgary, AB T2W 4J8, Canada ("we", "us" or "our"). This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with the WeldBud iOS app, its account and subscription services, and weldbud.com.
WeldBud provides welding calculators and reference tools. This policy covers website contact functions and the iOS service as it becomes available, including testing access. References to app or subscription features apply when those features are available.
For privacy questions or requests, contact our privacy contact at info@weldbud.com or write to the address above, marked "Privacy".
2. Information we collect and use
- Account and profile information: your email address, account identifier, authentication information, display name and selected built-in avatar identifier. This information supports sign-in, account recovery and your profile. If you use email-and-password sign-in, your password is processed by our authentication provider.
- Calculation information: the welding or other tool inputs you submit, calculation results, and saved or recent records associated with your account. We use these to provide calculations and supported history or saved-result features.
- Subscription information: an account-linked subscription identifier, purchase history, product information and subscription status. We use this information to verify or restore purchases, determine access to Advanced features and understand subscription activity.
- Messages: your email address, message contents and any attachments you choose to send when requesting support or a launch notification. We use these to respond and manage the request.
- On-device information: session information, preferences and pending calculation information stored to maintain or resume app activity. Information stored only on your device is not necessarily sent to our servers.
Please avoid including unnecessary personal information about yourself or other people in calculation entries or support messages. Account information is needed for account-based features; optional profile information and support messages are your choice.
3. Why we use your information
We use personal information to provide the features you request, manage accounts, process calculations, maintain saved records, administer subscription access, respond to support requests, protect the service and meet applicable legal obligations.
Where consent is required, we request it for the relevant purpose. You can withdraw that consent by contacting us, subject to legal or contractual restrictions that we will explain. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing a feature that requires the information.
Where a law such as the GDPR applies, the relevant basis depends on the activity: providing requested account, calculation and subscription services under our agreement with you; complying with legal obligations; consent for optional communications where required; or legitimate interests in service security, support and subscription reporting, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
4. Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers for specific functions:
- Supabase: account authentication and backend services for account, profile and calculation information.
- RevenueCat: subscription validation, restoration, account-linked access checks and subscription reporting.
- Apple: processing App Store purchases and managing Apple billing and subscription transactions.
- Resend: delivery of account emails, including signup confirmation, and deletion-related support communications. Account-deletion completion is shown in the app; this does not promise an email confirmation.
- Website and email providers: delivering the website and handling communications you send to us.
Information is provided to these services for the functions described above. Apple also handles information under its own privacy policy. Provider documentation does not replace our responsibility to explain WeldBud’s own practices.
We may disclose information when required by applicable law or a valid legal request, or where permitted and necessary to investigate abuse, protect rights or address security incidents. We limit such disclosures to the circumstances of the request.
5. Apple purchases and subscriptions
When iOS subscriptions are offered, Apple processes payments. WeldBud does not collect your full payment-card number or card security code for an App Store purchase. We receive subscription and transaction information needed to provide your purchased access; RevenueCat supports that process.
You manage Apple subscription renewals and cancellations through your Apple account. Deleting WeldBud from your device, or requesting deletion of your WeldBud account, does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.
Manage Apple subscriptions: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions/.
6. Local storage, reporting and communications
Website hosting providers may process technical connection information and use security cookies to deliver and protect the website.
The app uses local session and preference storage to support sign-in and app operation. Clearing that storage may sign you out or remove locally stored preferences and pending information. It does not necessarily delete information already held by our services.
RevenueCat provides subscription analytics, including purchase history and subscription reporting. This is distinct from advertising tracking.
Advertising, Facebook Pixel and advertising-retargeting integrations are not part of the WeldBud setup described by this policy. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
If you request a launch notification, we use your email address for that request. You can withdraw the request by emailing us. A website email link opens a message in your email application; clicking the link alone does not submit a signup. Sending us a support message does not by itself subscribe you to promotional emails.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably needed to provide requested services and resolve support issues. Deletion-request records and security records are handled separately from profile and calculation content, as described below.
WeldBud is still in development. To request account closure or deletion of your information, contact info@weldbud.com. We may verify that the request relates to your account. Do not send passwords, authentication codes or payment-card details by email. We will explain any information that must be retained and why, and respond within the period required by applicable law.
During current app testing, account deletion is available through Settings → Delete account. After ownership verification and successful acceptance, processing begins and further account activity is blocked, without a mandatory waiting period. Completion may depend on service availability; do not assume the account is deleted until completion is confirmed. A pending request can remain pending when the app is closed and reopened. We do not promise a fixed completion time. For help with a deletion request, contact info@weldbud.com.
The deletion process is designed to remove your profile, preferences, calculation results, saved and recent setups, linked RevenueCat customer record and Supabase sign-in account. Service removals are checked before completion is reported. When the app observes completion, it clears its local account state and signs you out. Completed account closure is irreversible and the removed account data cannot be recovered through the app.
While a deletion request is unfinished or needs attention, we retain the limited account references and processing information needed to complete it. Unfinished requests do not automatically expire; the completed-status period below does not apply to them.
After verified completion, the deletion-status receipt is available for 30 days. Working account and provider details are removed at completion. A limited status and security record remains, including pseudonymous references, the outcome and processing history. These records are pseudonymous, not anonymous. During current app testing, scheduled disposal is enabled for completed deletion-request records that have reached their expiry time. Expiry makes those records eligible for disposal; processing can be delayed by service availability or failures. The 30-day receipt period does not mean that every associated record is physically erased on day 30. Separate security records, provider records and backups remain subject to the distinctions below.
We separately retain limited pseudonymous security records to prevent delayed subscription events or restored data from recreating a deleted identity. These are not a retained copy of your profile or welding setups. They have no fixed deletion date: their necessity is reviewed before release and at least every 90 days, and they are removed once the relevant recreation risk has been eliminated. The 90 days is a review interval, not a deletion deadline.
Deletion from active systems and expiry of backup copies may occur at different times. Backups and provider logs follow their separately configured retention arrangements. A backup or log being accessible for a particular number of days does not establish when every provider copy is physically erased. We do not promise that all provider copies are erased within a single fixed period. If a specific legal requirement prevents deletion of particular information, we will identify that information and explain the reason; this is not a blanket extension of retention for all account content.
Deleting the app or your WeldBud account, including its linked RevenueCat customer record, does not cancel or refund an Apple subscription. Manage subscriptions at https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions/. Apple handles refund requests separately, subject to applicable consumer rights. Apple may retain its own transaction records independently.
8. Where information is processed
WeldBud is operated from Canada. Our service providers may process information outside your province or country, including outside Canada. The laws in those locations may differ from those where you live, and information may be accessible to authorities under applicable local law.
Contact our privacy contact at info@weldbud.com for information about the service providers handling your information, their processing locations and the applicable privacy arrangements. This policy does not ask you to waive your privacy rights by using the service.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
You can update supported profile fields in the app and contact us to request access to or correction of personal information. Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may also have rights to request deletion, obtain a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or exercise applicable sale or sharing opt-out rights.
Send requests to info@weldbud.com. We use information reasonably needed to verify and respond to a request. Some rights have legal exceptions; if an exception applies, we will explain our response. We will not penalize you for exercising rights protected by applicable privacy law.
You may raise a concern with us or complain to the privacy regulator responsible for your location. In Canada, this may be the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, depending on the issue.
10. Security
We use account authentication and access controls intended to protect account-linked information. No method of online transmission or storage is completely secure. Please protect your sign-in details and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access to your WeldBud account.
11. Age eligibility and future community features
WeldBud is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children. If you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Community chat and public posting are planned features, not active features described by this policy. We will provide updated privacy information before introducing collection or sharing associated with those features.
12. Policy updates and contact
We will update this policy when our practices change, identify the date of the update, and provide additional notice or request consent where required. A policy update does not remove rights you have under applicable law.
